History

To give you some company history, in 1938 the current owner’s grandfather Elwood Kobussen
aka “Grandpa Goldie”, a dairy farmer and trucker by trade was chosen by the Kaukauna Board
of Education to transport out-of-town students to and from the Kaukauna High School. On the
first buses the colors were red, white and blue with the company name of “Kaukauna Bus
Service Incorporated”.

In 1938, the City of Kaukauna also contracted with us to operate and manage the inner city transit system. We added the routes for the Neenah Joint School District in 1967 after winning the contract. The name changed in 1976 — to the current Kobussen Buses, Ltd. In 1980, we were hired by Outagamie County to transport adults with special needs. You may recognize this now as the “Valley Transit” buses you see in the area. We expanded again in 1983 when we started with the Luxury Motorcoaches for Charter trips and groups. For over the past ten years besides earning the highest safety certification from the Department of Transportation, we are also certified by the Department of Defense to move troops. This is a higher level of safety certification than the DOT requires. We also have GPS in the Motorcoaches, and we stay on the cutting edge of technology with updates. We recently became a member of the Trailways — a well known name in the Motorcoach industry — which means we have access to Trailways members for the rare need to keep a group moving when a bus or driver cannot continue. Today we have over 400 dedicated team members who operate and maintain a fleet of Luxury Motorcoaches, School Buses and special needs equipped Transit vehicles from five terminals. We just keep on growing into the future with all our friendly drivers treating the folks they transport just like one of the family.

We live our company motto of “Family Pride In Every Ride” with a safety record of excellence – everyday!
